ZTE had earlier supplied handsets to various India smartphone brands such as Micromax, and even launched various low-cost CDMA mobile-phones in India in partnership with cellular service providers such as MTS, Idea and Reliance Communications. But now they have decided to have their own brand too in this market.

We had a quick look at all the phones that were launched today and weren't too impressed with what we saw. Though ZTE plans to offer Tier 1 quality phones at the price point of domestic players like Micromax, Karbonn or Lava, the handsets on display seemed even inferior to what the domestic brands offer these days. Let's hope they were just demo pieces and the actual samples will be a lot better. Else their strategy of entering the Indian market might not be as Zmart.
