Can Mitashi's GameIn Thunder Bolt Android Gaming Console Jolt The PSP?

This PSP lookalike device sports a 4.3” touchscreen and Wi-Fi; no Google Play Store however.

Update: Check out the detailed written as well as video review of Mitashi Gamein Thunderbolt. And no there is still no Google Playstore :(

Android is not just meant to be on mobile phones and tablets. Mitashi has launched a gaming console GameIn Thunder Bolt that looks eerily similar to the Sony PSP. However, even with the same screen size of 4.3", the pixel dimensions are rather low at just 480x272. Although unlike the PSP, it has 5-point capacitive multi-touch input as well as the gaming buttons. Running Android 4.0 (ICS), it is powered by a single-core 1 GHz CPU with 512 MB of RAM. Google Play Store can be accessed to download and install games and apps, thanks to Wi-Fi. It can also be used to surf the internet or to watch movies and listen to music with its 3.5 mm audio jack. There are also two cameras - 2  MP rear and 0.3 MP front. The company has a similar device called Thunder, but it comes with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and doesn't have any camera. Here are specifications of the Thunder Bolt:

  • Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), Google Play Store.
  • 4.3" screen with 5-point multi-touch capacitive input and pixel dimensions of 480x272.
  • 1 GHz single-core Amlogic CPU, Mali-400MP GPU.
  • 512 MB RAM, 4 GB internal storage, Up to 32 GB microSD support.
  • 2 megapixel rear camera, 0.3 megapixel front camera.
  • Wi-Fi, 3.5 mm audio jack.

The Mitashi GameIn Thunder Bolt is available for Rs 6800, which seems to be a good price, considering its versatile functionality. With a similar screen size and dimensions, the Sony PSP is also available for almost the same price, but it doesn't feature a touchscreen and can only play PSP games. However, the PSP is a dedicated gaming device with a proven track record, so it cannot really be compared with the Mitashi GameIn Thunder Bolt. However, the Thunder Bolt does have the advantage of access to the ever expanding Google Play Store that keeps getting new games, which can be tried on this console, with some even having gameplay similar to a few PSP games. If you are thinking about drawing comparisons with another upcoming Android gaming console known as the NVIDIA SHIELD, please don't, because the latter is far more powerful with a Tegra 4 processor and has far better gaming features.
