Microsoft's Xbox One Set For November Launch At $499

Xbox 360 refuses to die, gets new styling like the upcoming console.

 

The E3 gaming event is going on in full swing and Microsoft has been trying to up the ante in anticipation of Sony's scheduled unveiling of the PS4. It has been announced that the Xbox One will launch in November this year at a price tag of $499 (approx. Rs 29,000) in the US, £429 (Rs 39,000) in the UK, and €499 (Rs 38,400) in Europe. The console will be available in 21 countries, although the names of these markets and respective pricings are not yet known. The bundle includes a wireless controller, new Kinect, and a 14-day trial membership of Xbox Live Gold. The company is also planning a commemorative bundle at the same price, comprising a unique packaging, limited-edition controller, and a commemorative achievement for Xbox Live. Microsoft is also offering incentive to gamers who pre-order Ryse: Son of Rome, Forza Motorsport 5, Kinect Sports Rivals, and Dead Rising 3. These folks will be able to access bonus content such as multiplayer maps and more in-game features. Accessories such as Xbox One Play & Charge kits and Xbox One Chat Headset connected to the controller will also be available for purchase separately.

Since the new console has been announced, one would expect the end of the road for the Xbox 260. However, the Microsoft has announced that the Xbox 360 will receive a facelift from the design elements of the upcoming console. The software giant says that it aims to give the ageing console the "modern look and feel of the Xbox One" and has stated that it will be smaller, sleeker, and quieter. Some of the design changes includes a split glossy and matte finish, and a smaller power button next to the eject button of the optical drive.

Sweeping aside apprehensions, the old console has been assured an existence for at least the next two years as hundreds of new games will be made for it over the next couple of years. Thus, the Xbox 360 will continue to co-exist with the Xbox One. The new Xbox 360 will be available immediately at $200 (Rs 11,700) for the 4 GB version and $300 (Rs 18,000) for the 250 GB variant.
