Nokia Lumia 928 Out In The Open, Shows Off Its PureView Powers

Nokia US takes its next high-end Lumia handset's camera for a test spin, pits it against the iPhone 5 and GALAXY S3.

The Nokia Lumia 928 has been in the pipeline for a while now. Now, the Finnish phone maker has finally given the world a glimpse of the new handset, which is likely to be a US-exclusive model. While there is no official word on the phone's specifications yet, it does pack in a 8.7 megapixel snapper with the goodness of Nokia's PureView and OIS technology, and a Carl Zeiss lens to keep it company. To show the world how well it performs under low lighting conditions, the guys at Nokia USA took the Lumia 928, along with the Samsung GALAXY S3 and an iPhone 5 for a quick spin at a New York amusement park. Needless to say, it does manage to beat its closest rivals quite comprehensively. Check out the video to see for yourself:

The Lumia 928 is said to be exclusive to Verizon in the US, which possibly means it will be a CDMA-based phone and may not ever become available in India, whose telecom operators use the GSM standard instead. For those who walked in late, this phone is a spin-off of Nokia's flagship Lumia 920. The new variant will sport an aluminium chassis instead of a polycarbonate unibody and is also expected to be thinner and lighter than the 920. Rest of the spec is said to be untouched, so you can expect a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, and 1 GB of RAM.
