Microsoft Updates Skydrive iOS App

The update makes the app compatible With iPhone 5 and iPad Mini.

After revamping Outlook.com's Calendar design, Microsoft has brought out version 3.0 of its Skydrive app for iOS. This update includes improved photo features, a refreshed User Interface, and various other enhancements and makes it compatible with newer Apple devices such as the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini. Moreover, with the earlier versions of the SkyDrive app, users could upload full resolution images, but the images automatically would be scaled down to a lower resolution. This new upgrade lets the users control the photo size for uploads. The full list of enhancement that Microsoft has incorporated into its SkyDrive app for iOS include:

  • Updated App icons.
  • Allows downloading of full resolution photos to users' iPhone/iPad.
  • Photo metadata is retained when users upload to SkyDrive.
  • Better synchronising with photos.
  • Bug fixes and performance improvements.

Microsoft's SkyDrive offers free data storage of up to 7 GB, and is an integral part Office 2013 and the Windows 8 OS. Although the company doesn't seem to have plans to offer its Office package to Apple for now, the rumour mills do not rule out the possibility. The SkyDrive app is now available on Apple's iTunes Store.
