SoundHound claims to be the only application that is capable of recognising songs even by just humming. Once activated, the app listens to the tune being played or hummed for around 13 seconds, searches online, and comes up with results, if it finds any. In our experience, it wasn't able to recognise a song in more than half of the attempts. It goes without saying that this is a hit-or-miss, as it will depend majorly on your singing and music skills. When it successfully recognises a tune, you get details such as song name, artist, and you can even buy the song right through the app.
