Nat Geo Delights Photography Lovers With A New Tumblr Site

Dubbed as Found, the website celebrates 125 years of Nat Geo; users can also order prints online.

National Geographic turns 125 this year, and the organisation has decided to celebrate this milestone with photographs. Known for its amazing collection of snapshots, Nat Geo has launched a Tumblr site Found, which will put on display "photographs that reveal cultures and moments of the past", as mentioned on the website.

Some of these rare, unpublished pictures will be up for public view for the first time, and people can also order for prints online. While the site is slowly coming together with dates and descriptions on most images, the website promises that it will add "new voices, stories, and artifacts" in the future. The collection is being put together by William Bonner, curater of the photography archives at the Nat Geo headquarters in Washington, DC. As of this piece going live, the website has 22 images up already.

The initiative is sure to impress photography enthusiasts: The site has some interesting examples on how lighting and framing can help you get some interesting perspectives.
