If you have a Windows 8 PC and are thinking of honing your English language skills, then there is a new free app that has just been launched. Known as the English Club, this app claims to be your best starting point for learning English and it doesn't sound very outlandish because this comes from the British Council with over 70 years of English teaching experience.

Aimed at intermediate and advanced English learners, this language building program uses animated videos showing the word in context through natural dialogues to attempt to teach the language in a fun-filled, humorous and entertaining way. These videos try to teach basic as well as advanced words, business terms, hangman, jumbled words, stories for kids, word search, and other things. The user learns to identify the meaning of select words and idioms as well as the proper spelling and pronunciation with emphasis on their usage in practical situations. The app also allows monitoring of the learning progress.

Ironically, it is mentioned on the product page that the languages supported is English (United States), when we were rather expecting it to be British. It works on x86, x64, as well as ARM-based Windows 8 devices with a display resolution of at least 1366x768. For an educational app of its kind that teaches the lingua franca of most of the world and doesn't even cost anything to download, this is definitely a must get app.
