Another Budget Android Smartphone, Byond B66 Launched

The 5" smartphone will compete in an extremely crowded Rs 10,000 segment. Specs are par for the course.

After launching the Byond B63, the Pune based company has unveiled the Byond B66. For starters, the dual-SIM 3G capable Byond B66 features a 1.2 GHz processor coupled 512 MB RAM. The selling point seems to be the screen size of 5", since consumers are sold on the 'bigger is better' idea. Of course, manufacturers readily dish out models.

Here are the complete specs for the Byond B66

  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
  • 1.2 GHz processor
  • 512 MB RAM
  • 4 GB internal storage (expandable to 32 GB via micro-SD card)
  • Dual-SIM (GSM + GSM)
  • 5-inch display with pixel dimensions of 800x480
  • 8 mp rear camera; VGA front camera
  • 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth
  • 2600 mAh battery

Byond has priced the B66 at an MRP of Rs 11,500 and offers Black and White colour options. The MRP may seem high, but you can expect the selling price to hover around Rs 10,000. This puts the B66 in line with a variety of phones with similar specs available at this price band. The most popular one in this price bracket seems to be the Micromax A110 Superfone Canvas 2 which we recently reviewed. Other phones with similar specs and pricing include the Intex Aqua 5.0 and Zync Cloud Z5
