Acer Launches The Iconia B1 Budget Tablet At Rs 8000 In India

Time for the Chinese made cheap tablets to pack up and head back home.

As the demand for budget tablets grow, Chinese tablet manufacturers are in for some fierce competition. Acer, a well-known laptop brand, has introduced its latest ICONIA tablet to the Indian market at a jaw-droppingly low price of Rs 8000. The Acer Iconia B1 which has been unveiled recently at CES 2013 sports a 7" display and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Mediatek processor. It runs Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) out of the box.

Here are the detailed specifications of the Acer Iconia B1:

  • 7" WSVGA capacitive multitouch screen with 1024x600 pixels.
  • Mediatek dual-core 1.2 GHz processor (MTK 8317T), 512 MB DDR3 RAM.
  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS.
  • 3.5 mm audio and MIC jack.
  • 8 GB internal storage, Micro-SD card slot (supports up to 32 GB).
  • Front-facing 0.3-megapixel camera.
  • Rechargeable 2,710 mAh battery.

Overall the specs of the device are quite decent. Hopefully, considering that the tablet is from a reputed brand, the build quality should also be good, unlike other Chinese rebranded tablets. We think Acer has hit the right price point and the tablet could turn out to be a hot-seller in the coming months.
