Projectors: The Unsung Heroes of Modern Workspaces and Startups

Sushil Motwani, the founder of Aytexcel Pvt Ltd. says laser projectors are improving the quality of online B2B interactions

India now has over 1.59 lakh recognised startups, as recorded by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) on January 15, 2025, making it the third-largest startup ecosystem in the world. Backed by over 100 unicorns, this growth continues to shape entrepreneurship and technology on a global scale, according to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

This entrepreneurial drive has also led to a rapid transformation of office environments. Modern workspaces are now embracing technological advancements, contributing significantly to the growth of the electronic equipment market. One of the areas seeing rapid uptake is AV technology, driven by increasing demand in corporate settings. Among these, laser-powered ultra-short throw (UST) projectors are gaining attention for their optimal brightness, durability, and low maintenance, making them particularly well-suited for business use.

“The growing adoption of laser projectors by businesses and startups for boardroom use is creating new opportunities for projection technology providers in India. These settings require precise colour reproduction and sharp visibility of essential data, such as company profiles, financials, charts, and visual aids. Laser projectors offer a clear advantage over traditional lamp-based systems and televisions in this regard,” says Sushil Motwani, Founder of Aytexcel Pvt. Ltd., the official distributor of Formovie projectors in India.

Mr Motwani adds that UST projectors are also perfect for modern, compact offices which may have space constraints. "UST projectors allow for flexible installation and reduce shadow interference, both essential for effective presentations. Their ability to project a 150-inch screen from just a few meters away makes them a practical solution for professional setups and even smaller office spaces,” he says.

Nowadays, with much of the workforce operating remotely and online meetings becoming a routine, laser projectors that offer high-quality audio, visuals, and fast Wi-Fi connectivity are improving the experience of virtual communications. These projectors also provide multiple input options and advanced networking features to integrate easily into corporate IT systems.

Citing the Formovie Theater Premium as an example, Mr. Motwani highlights how such projectors promote sustainability while also preventing digital eye strain. "Devices like Theater Premium offer a soft, eye-friendly projection. The light is diffused before reaching the eyes, reducing exposure to harmful blue light and allowing for longer viewing without discomfort through its ALPD® technology. These projectors also deliver a lifespan of up to 30,000 hours, cutting down on the need for replacements and reducing long-term expenses for businesses,” he concludes.
