Russian arms manufacturer stole weapon designs from a video game developer

Kalashnikov, a well-known arms manufacturer in Russia, has been accused of stealing weapon designs from game developer Ward B.

The Mastodon is the name of a weapon in Ward B’s upcoming first-person shooter game, Oceanic.

Kalashnikov has been accused of stealing the Mastodon’s blueprints to build a shotgun called the MP-155 Ultima.

While marketing the MP-155 Ultima, Kalashnikov stated that this new weapon was inspired by videogames but did not mention which game and failed to give Ward B any credit.

Ward B has issued a cease-and-desist order against Kalashnikov.

Kalashnikov allegedly approached the artist who designed the Mastodon and tried to buy the design directly from the artist.

Ward B has also accused Kalashnikov also licenced the Mastodon’s design to another video game called Escape From Tarkov, and the gun appeared in that game before it could appear on Oceanic.

What’s more is that Kalashnikov actually approached Ward B a year ago and wanted a collaboration on weapon designs.

Kalashnikov even told Ward B that they wanted to use Mastodon designs to build a real shotgun and that Kalashnikov would give full credit to Ward B, but then Kalashnikov never followed through with a contract and there was no further communication on the matter.
