Apple to start retail stores in Delhi and Mumbai

Apple is planning to open up official stores and manufacturing facilities in India.

Apple is gearing up for the launch of its retail stores in two big cities in India. Though the stores were initially supposed to open last year, the launch was delayed thanks to the pandemic. Though it’s unclear if the stores will open this year, perhaps early next year is our guess.

The store in Mumbai may be located at the Maker Maximity Mall in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). Apple has reportedly leased about 20,000-25,000 sq ft space for the store.

Aside from Delhi and Mumbai, we might see stores in Bangalore and other cities. Reports also suggest that Apple may open more than one store in Delhi and Mumbai.

Apple is also asking for job applications from anyone interested in store roles. The careers section on Apple’s site shows that they have over 13 job openings for various roles.

The timing of this announcement is perfect. Not only has Apple substantially increased its user base in India thanks to discounts and offers, but its manufacturing facilities in India are also churning out more products every year.

As Apple looks to gradually lessen its dependence on China, opening brick and mortar stores in India will only help them strengthen its grip on the fastest-growing smartphone market in the world.
