Surface Studios is coming out with a hybrid PC & Tablet

Surface Studios, Microsoft's Big Rival from China, has plenty of excellent tech in the works.

Alibaba released a new AIO (all-in-one) PC as part of its cloud-based computer products in October 2021. The Wuying AIO PC is the successor of the original Wuying, which acts as a gateway to Alibaba's formidable computing infrastructure. 

The newly launched AIO doubles as a business PC and comes with two versions. One is a 23.8 inch full HD display, and the other is a Pro version with a larger 27-inch touchscreen that comes with a 2560 x 1440 resolution. 

The Pro version is a cloud-connected alternative to the Surface Studio, which costs nearly $3500. Its clever folding mechanism and active stylus pen are similar to Microsoft's workstation and can be used upright or lying down. In addition, Alibaba has opted for a picture of someone drawing on the device to attract designers to its platform. 

Other features include two 3W speakers, an independent audio DSP, earphone jack, HDMI in/out, USB-A, and USB-C.

The company has not yet revealed details regarding the video/photo editing workstation that the Wuying AIO PC will offer. The cloud computer is available in multiple configurations so that users can pick and choose the level of computing power based on their needs. For example, programmers can opt for the quad-core with 8GB RAM or the 72 core with 278 GB RAM for the more intensive tasks. Schools can opt for the dual-core 4GB system. Users can also release additional computing power when it isn't needed.

Alibaba will be announcing the device's price towards the end of this year, and shipping will only be available in mainland China. 

As one of the tech giants in China, Alibaba has a current market value of nearly $450 billion. From web hosting to dedicated services, CDN to cloud storage, with its wide variety of verticals, it is one of the top e-commerce platforms in the country.
