Smartphones Costlier As New GST Rates Come into Force

The Indian government has hiked GST from 12 percent to 18 percent in March

The recent 6% GST hike that was announced for smartphones has finally come into force today on April 1st. As a result, both OPPO and Xiaomi have refreshed the prices of many of its handsets sold in India as of today. However, do note that the new prices haven’t been reflected on Mi.com right away at the time of this writing, but that should happen very soon. POCO has also made it official on social media that it is hiking the price of its one and only new model, the POCO X2. We also expect other brands like Vivo and Realme to slowly follow suit with new rates as the GST hike will affect all smartphone OEMs. In addition, the rising rate of the US Dollar against the Rupee to record levels isn’t helping the industry either.

Coming to the new prices, here’s a list of OPPO devices with revised rates.
