Microsoft Fixes Android's Copy-Paste Problem With This New App

Clip Layer. app lets you easily snip and share almost anything that appears on an Android screen.

Content consumption is moving from computers to smartphones. People now read and share article over phones. However, copying text, links, or images is quite a hit or miss affair on Android. It sometimes just doesn't work. To get rid of this problem, Microsoft Garage has released an called Clip Layer. It lets you easily snip and share almost anything that appears on an Android screen.

According to Steve Won, creator of Clip Layer, and a senior designer with Microsoft’s Office team, he found it hard on some apps to select anything, and even if there was a way to do that, it was often times cumbersome. He noticed it was a common problem across apps, and it became the starting point for this project. The Garage, is Microsoft's lab where experimental apps and projects go public.

Won isn't new to the Android scene as he already has popular Hub keyboard app under his name. He says, “It’s always smoother the second time around. Your first startup gets you ready for the second one. The first time around, besides product development, all this stuff was new to me – like the release checklist. I was a lot more anxious. This time around, at least I had a better idea of the entire picture. I had peace of mind, knowing what to expect and how to plan for everything.”
