Android Nougat Developer Preview 2 Now Being Rolled Out

The new roll out is said to be the last developer preview release from the company before it releases Android 7.1.1 Nougat into the market.

It has not even been a month since Google rolled out Android 7.1 Nougat developer preview for its Nexus smartphones and Pixel C, and today, the company has announced yet another developer preview.

In-fact, Google has recently made it clear that this new developer preview release would be the last one before the company announces the Android 7.1.1 Nougat in the market.

In a recent blogpost post, Dave Burke, VP of Engineering has said, “Today we're rolling out an update to the Android 7.1 Developer Preview -- the last before we release the final Android 7.1.1 platform to the ecosystem. Android 7.1.1 includes the developer features already available on Pixel and Pixel XL devices and adds optimizations and bug fixes on top of the base Android 7.1 platform.” He also added, “With Developer Preview 2, you can make sure your apps are ready for Android 7.1.1 and the consumers that will soon be running it on their devices.”

The new Developer Preview come with near-final system behaviours and UI, along with the latest bug fixes and optimisations, states the blog post, while further explaining that the SDK build and platform tools in Android Studio, Android 7.1.1 platform, and API Level 25 emulator system images are also being updated.

The new Android 7.1.1 Developer Preview 2 is compatible with most Nexus device as announced earlier, and to get it, users will have to sign up for company’s Android Beta Program and receive the update over-the-air. If not that, users can also download the image from the website and flash it to the device.
