Gionee Jumps On The Dual-Camera Bandwagon With Its S9 Smartphone

Dual camera setup isn't new. Brands such as HTC and Huawei have been rolling out handsets with this technology for years. However, once Apple implemented it in the iPhone 7 Plus, almost every phone manufacturer decided to follow the suit. The latest addition in this list is the Chinese manufacturer Gionee. Its newly announced phone S9 features a 13-megapixel rear camera coupled with a 5-megapixel secondary snapper dedicated for capturing the depth data.



The phone sports a 5.5-inch Full HD screen. It is powered by MediaTek's Helio P10 chipset, which comprises of 2 GHz quad-core processors and Mali T860 GPU. The handset comes with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage. Should you run out of storage, there's a microSD card slot too. The remaining specifications include a 13-megapixel selfie camera, fingerprint sensor, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS, and 3000 mAh battery. Moving on to the software part, the S9 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box with Amigo UI on top.



The Gionee S9 with hit the stores in its home country on 25th of November. Available in Gold, Rose Gold, Black, the phone is pegged at 2499 yuan, which roughly translates to Rs 25,000. As of this writing, there's no word on its global launch.
