IFA 2016: ZTE Axon 7 Mini Phone Launched With Dual Front Speakers

The phone has similar features to that of the Axon 7, which is of a larger screen version, but both handsets are angled towards audio capabilities.

ZTE has showcased its latest creation at the IFA 2016, the ZTE Axon 7 mini. Carrying a price tag of Rs 22,400 (EUR 300), the handset is set to launch on the European and Russian markets first, and then head to markets like India, Australia, Japan, and Saudi Arabia, from September 7 onwards. The price in India is stated to be in the region of Rs 26,700 ($400), where it is already up for pre-order bookings. For the time being, the 5.2-inch smartphone will be available in the Gold and Grey color variants.

For it's engine, the Axon 7 mini will have a dual-SIM design, run on the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS, and it's full-HD screen has a resolution of 1080x1920 pixels. In comparison, it's elder sibling, the ZTE Axon 7, has a 5.5-inch QHD screen with a resolution of 1440x2560 pixels, which is plentiful for a handset with such a screen size. Like the earlier introduced version, this too sports a dual speaker setup on the front with Dolby Atmos Audio, and a processor providing with 24-bit/ 192kHz audio, other than hi-fi audio output and recording capabilities.

The Axon 7 mini has a been a metal uni-body design, which is perhaps responsible for a lot of handsets in the market, looking for a certain kind of finishing for the device. With the finger print sensor on the back panel, it is definitely like a few of the existing competitors in India. The engine has 3GB of RAM coupled with 32GB internal storage, and the other edition of Axon 7 mini has a 4GB RAM coupled with 64GB of storage. However, the processor power is sizable, with the Snapdragon 617 SoC (System on Chip), with 8 cores clocking in a combined 2.7 GHz (4 cores at 1.2GHz and 4 cores at 1.5 GHz).

In terms of the Axon 7 mini's shooter, there is a 16-megapixel rear camera, coupled with it's f/1.9 aperture and PDAF, apart from a dual-LED flash setup. The earlier mentioned storage is capable of being spruced up to 256 GB with a MicroSD card in a hybrid dual-SIM module. While some may not be taken in by this, but one needs to wonder if these category of handsets really work on multiple SIMs at the same time.

In terms of connectivity, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a USB Type-C (v1.0) port. It's powered by a 2705mAh battery, measures 147.5x71x7.8mm, and weighs 153 grams. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, gyroscope, digital compass, and a proximity sensor. So, to cut it short, the Axon 7 Mini is a music lovers, or a cine goer's delight, and perhaps live up to a fulfilling multimedia experience, especially if one adds a VR gear to the setup.
