Is iPad The Answer To Amazon Echo?

With Wi-Fi connectivity if you are plugged into an iPad powered by iOS can be the new Home Hub. Speculations are rife that the answer to Amazon Echo isn’t the Apple Tv but the iPad.

Apart from the macOS Sierra updates, Siri and Apple watch OS 3, the WWDC brings to our attention that Apple TV can used as a “Home Hub” for controlling  HomeKit devices. Homekit devices can be controlled at the user’s convenience and the user is logged into their iCloud account and here’s where the set-top-box comes to play. The set-top-box is a medium between HomeKit and the  iPhone when you’re outside of your home network.

MacWorld reported , “ But what if you don’t have an Apple TV? Just keep an iPad running iOS 10 plugged in! Apple confirmed to SlashGear that iOS 10 will let an iPad act as the Home Hub, as long as it’s always plugged in and connected to Wi-Fi. iOS 10 will come with a new Home app from Apple, and Siri can control HomeKit gear for you too.”

While Amazon Echo as well as Google Home sport built-in speakers and microphones to capture voice commands, iPad also  has speakers and a microphone and AirPlay and Bluetooth can be used to connect with compatible speakers. Now that Siri has some noteworthy updates in iOS 10 and users being able to connect to HomeKit devices from outside their network, the tech giant rivals Echo without a brand new standalone product.
