LG Innotek Develops 15-Watt Wireless Charging Module for Smartphones

To be three-times faster than the existing 5watt wireless charging modules.

LG Innotek introduces the new 15-watt charger claims to charge a fully drained battery up to 50 per cent within 30 minutes and supplies the same amount of electricity as wired chargers. Easy and convenient wireless charging without any hassles can be used on "wireless power chargers installed on vehicles" as well as wireless chargers used at home or office.

The company details that the wireless power charger consists of transmitter, which supplies power to smartphone in the form of charger pad, and receiver, which will be embedded in smartphones and it will charge the battery by generating induced current by responding to the transmitter part.

The company hopes to start mass production this year and wireless charger is compatible with international standards including Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) 15W, Power Matters Alliance 5W and 9W power transmission modules, and has been designed to meet the criteria set by the WPC and the AirFuel Alliance.
