Selfie has definitely become a way of life nowadays, especially among the youths who share almost everything via social networks. But, It seems that people have started taking selfies against dangerous backgrounds trying to either show their bravery or dare-devil stunts.

Especially, we are able to come across many cases where selfies, trains and railway tracks are common among the youth leading them to life-risking acts.

Also, there are reports that more people die while taking selfies than the number of people die in shark attacks.

Here is a list of 5 deadly selfie-related accidents in India that shook the nation in the past 1-2 years.

1. Three students were killed by a speeding train while taking a selfie on the railway tracks.

The incident took place on the Republic day this year when three college-going friends were travelling to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. However, the three friends decided to take a daring selfie photograph when they saw a train approaching. It is being said that the three men accidentally jumped on to another railway track where a train was speeding from the opposite direction. 2. Indian-American Pilot was killed in plane crash while taking a selfie.

Amritpal Singh who was an Indian-American pilot was taking selfies along with his passenger in Colorado when he lost control of his plane, Cessna 150. The incident where Sing and other passengers were taking selfies on their smartphones was completely recorded by a GoPro camera which was mounted to the plane's windshield. The incident took place during a few short flights before the crash. Read more here.

3. Seven youths drown in a lake in Nagpur while taking a selfie.

The incident took place in March this year when a group of youths got on to a local boat to take selfie in Mangrul lake near Nagpur. The youths were told to have visited the lake for a picnic and while they were clicking selfies, the boat is said to have tilted making the youth fall in to the water and drown. Immediately, the other friends in the group tried a lot by bringing a crowd near the lake to pull the men who had drowned. However, it was unsuccessful. Read more here.

4. Mumbai boy suffered a 25,000V electric shock while taking selfie.

A 16 year old boy had been to the Jogeshwari railway yard in Mumbai to click selfies which he performs his daredevilry acts. However, it didn't turn out the way he wanted. While the boy was taking selfie on top of the train compartment, it is reported that he touched the overhead wire accidentally making him suffer the 25,000 volts of live current. The boy has suffered 90% burns and is still fighting for life. Read more here.

5. Kerala boy killed while taking selfie atop a train.

The incident took place in August 2014 in Kerala when a 14 year old boy attempted to climb a freight train at the Shoranur railway station to click a selfie. However, it is reported that he was unaware of the overhead high tension wires which unfortunately electrocuted him. He was thrown off the train. Read more here.
