TechTree.tv: Watch The Curiosity Rover's Mars Landing In 1080p!

Professional video editor painstakingly stitches together still images of the landing to create a high-res clip.

Disappointed by the thumbnail-sized video streamed by NASA of the Curiosity rover's Mars landing? Worry not, because professional video editor Daniel Fitch has put in a great amount of effort and time to create a Full HD version instead. He downloaded all the 2800 raw images sent by the MARDI (Mars Descent Imager) of the landing, then compiled them into a video. The quality and visibility was improved with the help of heavy noise reduction, colour correction, and sharpening. Although the video isn't very smooth at 15 fps, it's still far better than the original. Note that the video runs three times faster than the actual speed, since the raw images were taken at 5 fps. Needless to say, the 50-second outcome is every sci-fi lover's dream come true.
