RCOM Slashes 3G Data Tariffs Up To 61%

Following suite of telcos such as airtel, Vodafone and Idea, RCOM has decided to cut down tariffs for its 3G services. Although the price cuts are not as lucrative as compared to those offered by its competitors, this is the first piece of positive news from the company in the past few weeks.

Users will now have to pay Rs 250 for 1 GB of internet usage, with 20 paisa per MB data used thereafter. Before the price cuts, subscribers had to fork out Rs 650 for 1 GB data usage and 50 paisa for each MB used after the limited expired...

Fishermen from Kerala can heave a sigh of relief, as BSNL is considering extending mobile network coverage into the Arabian Sea. The telecom major has expressed plans to increase its reach up to 20 nautical miles into the sea along the entire Kerala coastline, from the current 5-km reach which is in place. As of now though, the coastal mobile towers were restricted to the current prescribed limit, due to radiation-related stipulations. BSNL plans to work around to this issue by directing signals into the sea, away from the thickly populated hamlets surrounding the towers.
