Google’s Nexus 5X And 6P Get Priced At Rs 32,000 And 40,000 In India

Both smartphones along with their accessories have shown up on the Google Play Store.

What’s more interesting than the Google Nexus 5X and its bigger sibling the Nexus 6P? Well, its their pricing and as of now, Google’s Play Store has begun to reflect them.

The Nexus 5X's pricing begins at Rs 32,000 and the Nexus 6P has been priced at Rs 40,000 in India. And its not just the smartphone in their various colour options and capacities that have shown up online. Their accessories have made an appearance too.

These are not international prices, but the Indian online prices, that Google is expected to push out for sale soon.

Coming to the Nexus 5X which seems more of a high-end smatphone (not premium), it is priced in following colours and storage capacities:

Nexus 5X, 16 GB, LTE (available in Carbon, Quartz and Ice) for Rs 31,900
Nexus 5X, 32 GB, LTE (available in Carbon, Quartz and Ice) for Rs 35,900

As for the bigger Nexus 6 replacement, the metal-clad Huawei-made Nexus 6P is available in:

Nexus 6P, 32 GB, LTE (available in Aluminium and Graphite only) for Rs 39,999
Nexus 6P, 64 GB, LTE (available in Aluminium and Graphite only) for Rs 42,999

Down to the specifications, one can easily tell that the Nexus 5X is lesser of the two and seems to be a high-end, offering from Google

Nexus 5X specifications:

  • We get a 5.2 inch IPS LCD Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display at 424 ppi and Corning’s Gorilla Glass 3 protection
  • Inside, as expected, there is a 1.8 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 (hexa-core) SoC with 2 GB of RAM (LPDDR3) and 16 GB and 32 GB storage options
  • In the camera department we have no OIS, but 5X packs in a (now standard) 12 MP sensor with laser assisted autofocus and 5MP module up front
  • Connectivity options include LTE cat. 6, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac 2x2 MIMO, dual-band (2.4 GHz, 5.0 GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, NFC
  • There is a fingerprint sensor on the back and the device sports a single USB Type-C port
  • Obviously the handset runs Google’s latest and greatest Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is powered by 2,700 mAh battery

Coming to the Nexus 6P:

  • We get a 5.7 inch AMOLED Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) display at 518 ppi and Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4 protection
  • Inside, as expected, there is a 2.0 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1 (octa-core) SoC with 3 GB of RAM (LPDDR4) and 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB storage options
  • In the camera department we have no OIS, but 6P packs in a 12 MP sensor (1.55 µm pixels) with laser assisted autofocus and 8 MP module (1.4 µm pixels) up front
  • The handset runs Google’s Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is powered by 3,450 mAh battery

Strangely, what both smartphones lack (apart from the usual SD card slot) is OIS for the cameras, which is a bit strange since even some mid-rangers have begun to include it these days. Moreover, one can clearly see how Google has cut corners but has oddly delivered the Nexus 5X at a rather high asking price.

Coming to the accessories, there is quite a wide selection to choose from that ranges between Rs 3000 down to Rs 1800. As of now we have no idea about when these smartphones will be available for purchase in India.
