Google Maps Extends Real-Time Traffic Updates To 12 More Cities In India

With these 12 new cities, the total number of cities where real time traffic updates are provided go up to 34 in India.

 

Google is known to keep on updating its services very often and one such latest update is that the search giant has added traffic information for 12 new cities in India.

With am aim to provide the service and make Google Maps a daily tool, Google has included Kolkata, Thiruvananthapuram, Bhopal, Coimbatore, Lucknow, Surat, Indore, Ludhiana, VIsakhapatnam, Nagpur, Kochi and Madurai in to its list of cities where real-time traffic information is provided to its users.

Also, this latest update to Google Maps is said to go live from Tuesday and is expected to also make traffic information available for all national highways and expressways in India.

This latest update is said to go on live in both mobile and desktop versions of Google Maps along with prevously availabe cities making the total to 34 cities in India.

Adding more on this, once the traffic layer is turned on in Google Maps, commuters can see routes mapped out in different colours, indicating the different speed of traffic on those roads. While green means that there are no traffic delays on the road and orange indicates a medium amount of traffic, the red colour means hevier traffic congestion.

While in navigation mode, Google Maps will also use real time traffic information to more accurately estimate time of arrival and to provide options for alternate routes if there are faster options available.
