Apple Most Valuable Brand In The World; Google Second

Both the giants have been valued at more than $100 billion

 

Google might have outdone Apple in making Android the most widely used mobile platform, but it still trails in the Interbrand’s Best Global Brands report.

Apple and Google are only two companies to be valued at more than $100 billion. While the Apple has been valued at $118.9 billion, internet search giant is lagging behind at $107.4 billion.

As expected the softwares companies dominate the list with Microsoft coming in at No. 5 with an estimated valuation of $61 billion, behind Coca Cola ($81bn) and IBM ($72bn).

Some of the other giants like Amazon was at 12th spot, while Facebook emerged as one of biggest gainers with a 86% increase in valuation and was positioned at 29th spot.

The biggest loser was expectedly Nokia, whose slide continued and lost 44% percent of its value and was surprisingly listed at the 98th spot with an estimated value of $4bn.

While evaluating the best brands in the world, Interbrand mentioned that it looked at three key factors:

  • The financial performance of the branded product and service
  • The role the brand plays in influencing customer choice
  • The strength the brand has to command a premium price or secure earnings for the company
