The iPhone 6L Could Be Apple's First Phablet

Seems as though Apple isn't venturing too far with the nomenclature of its upcoming mega smartphone.

It's pretty apparent that Apple will soon launch the iPhone 6 in two different sizes, but there hasn't been much talk about what the next-gen handset will be called. While we might have expected to the company to extend its 'Air' and 'Mini' nomenclature to its smartphone range, a new leak suggests the larger of the two devices will simply be called the iPhone 6L.

A Chinese website claims to have gotten its hands on details about the component and specification of the two iPhone 6 models. The report asserts that the larger of the two handsets will carry the iPhone 6L monicker which is fitting given its phablet size.

Apart from the name, it is revealed that the larger of the two devices will be powered by a 2,915mAh battery, while the smaller one will get a 1810mAh cell. The larger battery would of course be required to power the larger screen and has according to past rumours has been a major headache for Apple's partners to manufacture.

Given the nature of the leak, there are no signs of its being true, meaning this is where we advice you to take everything you've just read with a pinch of salt. Only time will tell if Apple names the device the iPhone 6L or something completely different, but we won't have to wait all that long as a launch is expected to take place on September 9.
