The Square-Screened BlackBerry Passport Runs Apps Perfectly

This latest leak has put all us nay-sayers to shame; a super-square screen does indeed work.

We've all laughed at BlackBerry's square-screened Passport, partly because it so damn odd, but also because we were skeptical about how it would run regular apps. Now thanks to n4bb we've been put to shame, with a few leaked images showing the device running perfectly scaled Android apps.

The super-square phone is indeed a fresh breath of air in a world dominated by the rectangle. It's also the thing BlackBerry is harking upon to sell us the phone when it launches sometime this year. Still, as proven by the images the Passport runs apps perfectly with no letter-boxing or stretching.

That's one thing to check off our list of potential flaws with the BlackBerry Passport, but there's the more general issues that can lead to its failure. Another thing that scares us is that the company is pushing the phone primarily towards enterprise customers – the same group that has long shifted to Apple or Android devices.

While we applaud BlackBerry for making such a bold move in such dire times, the BB environment isn't even on the same level as iOS and Android. While we now know the Passport can run Android apps perfectly, we've still got to watch out for issues while using BB 10 native applications.
