WeChat Makes Life Easier With In-Chat Translation

Adds a handy message translation feature along with group passwords to keep your conversations secure.

A WeChat update is on its way to the Android devices and will add some novel features to improve messaging experience, as the users will now be able to translate messages within the chat thread itself. They will also be able to protect their group chat conversations from prying eyes.

Using the in-chat translation is pretty easy. All you have to do is to long-press on the message and then tap 'translate' from the options that appear. This has to be done every time you need to translate a message, which is a problem if you are chatting with someone from another country, but still this is an interesting feature. Since WeChat works worldwide, we can expect it to support multiple languages.

Next up is the groups password feature, which will need you to add a four digit password to create a group with friends. Also included in this update is a smart tag feature that will allow you to tag individual messages making it easier to access or search them later. Personally, we like the last feature since it is pretty difficult to find older messages, and tagging them under different topics makes sense.

Overall it looks like a handy update with some new features may set WeChat apart from the rest of the messaging apps on Google’s Play Store.
