Intex Launches Its Aqua 3G Smartphone In India At Rs 3,555

The company is targeting first-time buyers of smartphones in tier 2 and tier 3 cities with the Aqua 3G.

Homegrown mobile manufacturer Intex has launched its budget Aqua 3G smartphone in India at Rs 3,555. The company is targeting first time smartphone buyers in tier 2 and tier 3 cities, with 3G Internet connectivity being the highlight of the device.

The Aqua 3G is available in three shades – White, Black and Silver, and features a 4-inch WVGA display. The device is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor coupled with just 256MB of RAM. In terms of imaging, the phone has a 2MP primary camera at the rear and a VGA front-facing unit.

Connectivity options include dualSIM card slots, and as mentioned earlier the phone can connect to the Internet via 3G networks.

"There has been a vast majority of country's users who are migrating to smartphones from feature phones, it has become imperative for the industry to match the needs of tech savvy customers in India," said Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, business head at Intex Mobiles.

Further the Aqua 3G runs on a rather outdated version of Google's mobile OS, Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. The phone also features a miniscule amount (512 MB) of internal storage memory, but can be expanded via a microSD card. Powering all the hardware is a 1,400mAh battery, which is quite common for devices in the price range.
