Gmail For Android 4.1 And 4.2 Gets "Reply From Notification" Feature

Google says that Gmail app users can speed up frequent email actions, on Android smartphones.

 

Users of Android Jelly Bean (versions 4.1 and 4.2) can now reply, archive and delete emails from their phone's Notifications directly, with a single screen tap. The Gmail blog says that users can combine this new enhancement with existing notification features, which includes ability to customize messages based on notifications and the ability to have different ringtones for different labels.

The improved Gmail for Android app can be downloaded from Google Play.

With these features, Google says that users can save time on frequently used actions such as reply, archive and delete.

Apart from users of Android 4.1 and 4.2, people with older versions of Google's Android such as Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), Froyo and Gingerbread are also being provided new enhancements.

The Gmail App for Android 4.0 has received "better search suggestions", and search improvements which makes it faster for users to look-up emails, whether in online or offline mode. Google also claims to have incorporated "various enhancements in performance" for devices running on Android 2.2 and higher versions. A new Labels API is also incorporated, for third-party developers to make use of.
