Asus MeMO Pad ME172V: Another Low Cost 7" Android Tablet

Jelly Bean based slate comes with a 1 mp front camera, claims 7 hours of battery backup.

 

Asus unveiled its latest tablet, the Asus MeMO Pad ME172V. The tablet features a 7" display with a pixel domensions of 1024X600. It runs on Android 4.1 out of the box and is priced at $150(approx Rs 8,000).

The Asus MeMo Pad ME172V incorporates the 10-point multi-touch display that has LED backlighting and is driven by a 1 GHz single-core CPU with a Mali 400 GPU. This tablet  is expected to provide a battery backup time of 7 hours.

  • 8 GB internal storage ( 16 GB variant is also available) that can be expanded up to 32 GB through micro SD card.

  • 1 GHz processor with a Mali 400 GPU, 1 GB RAM.
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ( 3G connectivity is also expected), 3.5 mm audio jack.
  • 5 GB of Cloud Storage with Asus Web Storage.
  • Inbuilt apps such as Asus WebStorage Online Office, SuperNote Lite, Asus WebStorage.
  • 4270 mAh battery with claimed 7 hour back up.
  • Available colours: Titanium Grey, Sugar White, and Cherry Pink.

The Asus MeMO Pad falls in to the category of low-cost Android tablets and is expected to launch only in the US market for now. Google Nexus 7 which is priced at $200 will give it stiff competition in this market segment. The Asus MeMO Pad ME172V is expected to be available from April this year.
