Gmail Gets A New UI Redesign

Gmail has received a UI tweak to improve the way people use the popular Email service.

Google has taken up the job to unify most of its services; be it Google +, Google Reader or Google News. With the unification, the company has now given a cool new look to most of it's services. The most recent addition to the makeover list is Gmail, with the web version being updated with some cool features (though mostly cosmetic). The user interface has received a facelift to look more presentable and easy to use.

One of the cool new tweaks to the interface of Gmail is where a user can minimize the size of the browser window to his liking and Gmail automatically adjusts to the window. This is very vital if you usually view 2 or more program windows at once on the screen. Also, the search box on top has been upgraded with the addition of new filters such as 'from', 'to', 'subject', 'has the words' etc, to make searching for emails much more easier. Moving on, the ability to drag the chat box to hide your unimportant labels is a neat UI tweak that most of the users will be looking forward to using.

Another feature is where you can select the way you want your list of messages to appear. There are three options to choose from: Comfortable, Cozy and Compact, with Comfortable being the uncluttered view of your mails and Compact displaying most of your mails without taking up too much space. Also, the conversation window has received some minor adjustments to improve user experience, though it's not a major improvement. Lastly, the themes tab has been updated with some cool new high resolution themes so the user will now have a lot to choose from.

These new tweaks will certainly improve the way people read emails. All in all, we love the initiative that Google has taken up to unify the whole Google sphere and rightly so. This goes to show that Google is not just focusing on one thing at a time. Keep an eye out for the updated version of Gmail. A notification will appear at the bottom of the screen the next time you log into Gmail.
