HTC Unveils U11 Smartphone With Edge Sense Technology
Just squeeze it to send a text message, capture selfie, launch your favourite game, and for much more.
HTC has finally unveiled its new smartphone, the HTC U11, which is touted to be the world’s first smartphone with the new ‘Edge Sense’ technology that allows users to squeeze the phone to actually perform a couple of actions.
The smartphone comes with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with either 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB or 128 GB of ROM based on the variant one may purchase. It also sports a 5.5 inch QHD Super LCD 5 panel with Gorilla Glass 5 on top of it.
Coming to the camera department, the HTC U11 features a 12 MP UltraPixel 3-branded unit on the rear, while the selfie snapper is coming at 16 MP. HTC U11 incorporates the new UltraSpeed AutoFocus with same full sensor auto-focus technology that’s found in top DSLR cameras.
It also supports USB Type C, Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi, NFC,GPS, Glonass, and 4G LTE. However, we miss the 3.5 mm headset jack. Adding further, the device sports a 3,000 mAh battery that supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 as well. The device runs on Android 7.1 Nougat with HTC sense.
However, HTC U11’s most awaited feature is definitely the ‘Edge Sense’ technolgogy, and to give you a hint about how it works, let us consider, for example, how this might help in capturing selfies. The recent press release mentions, “No more fumbling for buttons or awkward hand positions. No more worrying about dropping your phone while you pose. Just lift, squeeze, smile, and snap.”
The company also adds, “You can also send texts faster and easier than before. Texting can be impossible when you are on the move, but using HTC Edge Sense for Voice to Text, you can speak your text messages without having to slow down. Lightly squeeze, speak your message and send your texts on the go.”
You can even customize the squeeze gesture: open email with just a squeeze. Or launch your favorite game (or any other app). You can pick any one of a host of options that the smartphone is capable of doing when you simply squeeze it.
