South Korean Company Builds A Giant Robot

The 13-feet machine weighs more than your average hatchback.

 

However old you are, giant robots always manage to awe us. Be it weird Japanese robots, jerman Yaegers, or American mech, they all have been incredibly popular in movies. Little wonder then, when the Korean company Hankook Mirae wanted to build a real-world robot, it hired Vitaly Bulgarov, known for his work in movies such as Robocop (2014), Terminator Genisys (2015), and Transformers: Age of Extinction.



The result isn't a killer robot, but a quite an interesting mech with a pilot onboard. Unlike Pacific Rim's two pilot system, it only require one person to operate. The 13-feet machine tips the scales at 1.3-ton, which is slightly more than your average hatchback. As you can see in the video below, the robot movies quite well. However, the biggest problem at this point is the that it requires external power. Hence, it is tethered. The designed said that the company is planning to develop tethered robots for industrial use in next few years.
