Bluetooth 5 Brings Twice The Speed Of Bluetooth 4.2

With this new version of Bluetooth, we can expect more improvements in IoT devices, starting next year.

We have been hearing about the latest Bluetooth v5 from a couple of months, when the technology was still under development. However, today, we seem to have new details about the spec sheet of Bluetooth 5.0, as given out by The Bluetooth Special Interest Group.

According to a recent report published on GSMArena, the Bluetooth v5.0 is ready to be integrated into smartphone by manufacturers.

Adding light on to its spec sheet, we can see that Bluetooth 5 comes with two times the bandwidth of what we have so far seen in Bluetooth v4.2. Also, the new v5.0 is capable of connecting with devices almost 4 times far away than the previous Bluetooth version. Interestingly, the speed also seems to have increased from a mere 1 Mbps to 2 Mbps.

However, it is worth noting that, the spec details given above are definitely flexible allowing developers to make the best choices for their specific product.

Bluetooth 5 supports larger data packets, capable of working with 255-octet packages, which means that this is the more efficient way to use 2.4 GHz band, while requiring lesser time to complete the broadcast, states a recent post on GSMArena. With these spec details being rolled out, we soon expect to see improvements in IoT devices, starting next year.
