All About Art- Take A Look At The App Touted As Insta’s Biggest Rival

Everyone knows Instagram; most people love Instagram. It’s a known quantity, familiar, comfortable. Useful, fun, etcetera-etcetera. But step outside the box for a second and look at alternatives. Good ones, even. Good enough to offer a challenge to Insta.

Step outside the box and look at Prisma.

Prisma is a photo editing app that can turn any photo into a piece of Art. ‘A’ capital, because . your photos can be morphed to  look like a real Picasso masterpiece. Some nifty AI cloud processing applies the looks of the great masters- Van Gogh, Munch, Mondrian, and of course Picasso- to your photos.

The app released in June 2016, and as of now, is only available on iOS. The company is working on an Android version which they hope will be ready in July. They will also be making Prisma Video, which will allow users to apply the same effects to videos.

There are downsides: the app has a slight tendency to crash (due to the load on the server). However, upon review testing, PCMag found that the app is usable most of the time, and that in case of a crash, connectivity returned fairly quickly.

Rivalries are always interesting, and one may have been born here. It’ll be interesting to see what Insta does to combat the rising craze that is Prisma, and how the new dark horse in the photo editing app race will hold its own.
