Xioami Officially Announces Mi Drone

The first drone in the market to come with modular design making it extremely portable.

Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi has been teasing its upcoming Mi Drone quite lately, and now the announcement has been made official at an event in China.

While the design seems to be pretty much similar to what we have been seeing among other quadcopter drones, the interesting feature of this Mi Drone is that, it comes with a modular design which actually allows users to detach certain parts like camera module and rotors. This feature makes the drone highly portable.

Technically speaking, the Mi Drone comes with four rotors and on the camera end, there are two variants - one with 4K video support and another with Full HD resolution camera.

The Mi Drone also comes with a 5,100 mAh battery, while it also comes with a remote controller which is capable of holding a Xiaomi smartphone. Here, the smartphone display becomes your viewfinder.

Speaking about the pricing and availability of the Mi Drone, it is expected to be available in China as of now at CNY 2,500 for the Full HD Camera variant, and at CNY 3,000 for the 4K camera variant. However, the company has not mentioned anything about the drone's availability in India. We'll have to wait and watch out for that.
