Intex Launches Two New Android Based Handsets — AQUA Trendy And AQUA Flash

Available for Rs 4900 and Rs 9500, the smartphones are similar in specs to the other recently launched handsets.

Intex Technologies, a well-known brand for computer peripherals, seems to be trying its best to strengthen its foothold in the budget smartphone segment. Its latest handsets to further that cause -are the INTEX AQUA Trendy and INTEX AQUA Flash. The new devices are aimed at novice smartphone users, who wish to switch from a dumb one.

The INTEX AQUA Trendy is a budget dual-SIM phone running (the dated) Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, and sports a 3.5" screen. The INTEX AQUA Trendy has been priced competitively at Rs 4900. Its specifications and pricing are very similar to the recently-launched Spice Stellar Xtacy Mi-352, which is priced at Rs 4700. Both companies are trying to woo users who probably just want to own a smartphone, and not focus on quality experience.

Save for the dual-core processer (which is surprising at this price point), it seems very much like the Intex Aqua 4.0 we reviewed some time back.

Here's the full list of specifications for the INTEX AQUA Trendy:

  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.
  • 1 GHz dual-core processor.
  • Dual-SIM (GSM + GSM)
  • 3.5" touchscreen display with pixel dimensions of 320x480.

  • 1400 mAh battery.
  • Available colours: Black and White.

A few notches higher is the INTEX AQUA Flash, yet another dual-SIM phone, with a larger 4.3" display and 1 GHz dual-core CPU, running Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). INTEX claims that its 2100 mAh battery can provide 3.5 hours of talktime and 72 hours of standby time.

The Intex Aqua Flash is available for Rs 9500 and comes with a free mobile cover and a screen guard. The Aqua Flash is certainly not alone at this segment — the Byond B63, priced at Rs 10,000 is yet another close match, spec wise.
