Huawei Takes On The OnePlus 6T With Its Honor View 20

It is the first mid-range device to feature a punch-hole display in India.

After teasing its latest smartphone on Amazon for quite some time, Huawei has finally launched its latest Honor View 20 in India. The handset was introduced in China last month and came with an aggressive price tag. However, probably due to higher taxation, the View 20's price has shot-up in India. The phone is pegged at Rs 37,999 for 6 GB RAM / 128 GB storage variant. It is pitted directly against the OnePlus 6T which we believe has finally got its worthy competitor after a long time.

Huawei brings many segment-first features with the View 20. It is the first smartphone in India to boast a punch-hole display notch, which is less obtrusive compared to other conventional notches. This coupled with the non-existent surrounding bezels provide a staggering 91.8% screen-to-body ratio to the handset. The Honor V20 sports a generous 6.4-inch Full HD+ IPS panel which covers 96% of the NTSC colour Gamut. The device is powered by Huawei's home-grown octa-core Hi-silicon Kirin 980 SoC (System on Chip) which is the first 7nm chipset to power Android smartphones. It comes with ‘Nine Liquid Cooling’ tech which is essentially an ‘S-shaped’ copper heat tube which enhances performance during those intense gaming sessions.

On the photography front, it comes equipped with a 25-megapixel f/2.0 aperture selfie camera which sits in the 4.5mm diameter display hole. The rear gets horizontally stacked dual camera sensors and a Led flash. The primary 48-megapixel camera is a Sony IMX586 sensor with f/1.8 aperture and comes with 4-in-1 Light fusion feature which enhances low light photography. The secondary sensor is a ToF (Time of Flight) sensor which apart from capturing depth information also aids in Kinect style virtual gaming. Other camera features include 960 fps slo-mo video recording, AIS, Fun AR, AI scenes, Time-lapse etc.

The handset comes with three Wi-Fi antennas and Link Turbo technology which seamlessly switches between Wi-Fi and mobile data to provide uninterrupted internet connection to the user. Apart from that it also gets Dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5 LE, GPS (L1 + L5 dual band), NFC, USB Type-C, rear mounted fingerprint sensor and a 3.5mm audio jack.

The Honor V20 runs on Magic UI based on Android Pie 9.0. Underneath its hood it packs in a 4000 mAh battery which coupled with the 7nm processor should work throughout the day with intense usage. It comes bundled with a 22.5 watt charger with fast charging technology.

The Honor V20 comes in Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue colours with a ‘V-Shaped’ 3D effect on the back. It is available on Amazon.in and Honor India and will be available through Reliance offline stores from February onwards.
