Electronic Arts (EA) has announced the development of Burnout 5 for PlayStation3 (PS3) and Xbox 360, being developed by Criterion Games in Guildford, UK, under the EA brand name. The Burnout series is known for its potential crashing, and arcade style racing with high speed. EA claims that Burnout 5 will provide every inch of the world that delivers heart-stopping Burnout-style gameplay - with next levels of speed and destruction, as also brand new technology that allows gamers to literally rip their cars into two - in some of the most explosive pile-ups in the series' history. Alex Ward, director - game design, Criterion Games, said, "Burnout 5 is a complete reinvention of the series, built from the ground up for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. To create truly next-generation gameplay, we needed to create a truly next-generation game, from top to bottom." In Burnout 5, players get license to wreak havoc in Paradise City - an ultimate racing battleground, along with a maze of traffic-heavy roads to abuse. After entering Paradise City, gamers are assigned the drivers' license that quickly begins to amass a record of the player's most aggressive, reckless, and destructive exploits behind the wheel. In the latest game sequel, players do not need to protect themselves from the law, but when trying too hard, they would be squaring-off against the city's most infamous burners not interested in the crossing of finishing lines. Apparently, EA will start shipping Burnout 5 in 2007.
