French publisher, Ubisoft has announced a non-exclusive licensing agreement with TV TOKYO to develop games based on the Naruto anime series.
The French company plans to develop the game using its own significant internal development resources, and will release in 2007 on Xbox 360, by which point the anime series should be well into its run on TV networks in most major territories.
With Naruto, Ubisoft will develop for the first time a game based on a Japanese property. Naruto was first launched back in 1999 as part of SHUEISHA's Shonen Jump anime magazine and features the young Ninja in training Uzumaki Naruto. The Naruto anime series debuted on TV TOKYO in 2002 and several successful video games have already been released in Japan.
The video game will feature all the popular characters from the anime series, including Naruto's ninjutsu classmates Sakura and Sasuke. The trio studies under the instruction of their teacher, Kakashi, who helps the group face a series of dangerous and daunting tests and challenges. Through their adventures, the young ninjas learn the importance of friendship, teamwork, loyalty, hard work, creativity, ingenuity, and morality.
Christian Salomon, director of worldwide licensing at Ubisoft, said that Naruto will broaden their portfolio and contribute to achieving their strategic goal of earning 25 percent of their turnover through licenses. Salomon further added that Naruto is part of a wave of Japanese Manga anime that appeals to kids and adolescents alike, and they plan to deliver every bit of the excitement people have experienced in Naruto's books, movies and TV shows.
Meanwhile, Hayato Date, Naruto anime series director, stated that he is confident Ubisoft will manage to create an exciting Naruto game, while respecting the anime s spirit of passing on positive values and a lot of fun.
i think that xbox360 (aka Dreamcast 2) shouldn't get Naruto on it's system... either Nintendo or Sony should have it since it is a Japanese anime... and when they bring an anime to america they ruin with the translation... the games in japanese are so much better, i mean they should just leave the games made by TOMY along and just translate them into english with the option of hearing the voices in Japanese
listen you dont no what you talkingt about they should put naruto on 360 cus it will bring the naruto world to life with the graphics and levels so i dont no what you talking about
