Xiaomi Rumoured To Announce Mi Edge Smartphone By October

Seems so interested in it, that Xiaomi pushed aside the Mi 5 for this smartphone.

After Samsung and soon BlackBerry, Xiaomi is also in a hurry to push out its own version of a dual edge curved display smartphone. The Mi edge as it is called, had appeared in earlier rumours but was then soon shot down after news about the Mi 5 began to surface.

According to chinese website called MobileDad, Xiaomi is hellbent on bringing the Mi edge to the market, and it will even push aside plans for its Mi 5 for it.

It is pretty clear that Xiaomi has arrived late at the dual edge curved display party, but since BlackBerry has yet to launch its much-rumoured Venice, there is plenty of scope.

Details about this rumoured smartphone are sparse at best, but recent rumours point to a 5.2 inch Quad HD display with dual edges made by Sharp and a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 chipset with 3/4 GB of RAM. Also expected is a 16 MP primary camera and a fingerprint scanner all packaged in a metal and glass build.

The price of this smartphone is expected to be around Rs 26,000 which is pretty low in comparison to Samsung’s Galaxy S6 edge at Rs 46,600 (32 GB).

The Mi 5 flagship is expected to arrive by the end of year with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset and a rumoured Sense ID (Qualcomm made) ultrasound-based fingerprint reader.
