airtel's 4G LTE Service Hits Kolkata

Data plans start from Rs 1000; Bengaluru is up next.

Bharti airtel has debuted its 4G LTE service in Kolkata. Since we don't have compatible handsets in Indian market as yet, those wanting to experience 4G speeds will have to buy Huawei USB modems from the mobile operator.

The new technology was launched by none another than our beloved Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Kapil Sibal. With the 4G service, the provider claims to offer fast access to HD video streaming, along with data transfers.

The plans are available both in both pre-paid and billing options, enumerated in the table below. airtel also holds BWA (Broadband Wireless Access) spectrum licences in Karnataka, and according to its website, the 4G service will soon be launched in Bengaluru.
