Should You Buy The HTC Desire 826 Dual SIM?

HTC seems to have gotten its pricing all wrong.

HTC has announced its Desire 826 Dual SIM handset in India. The handset according to its pricing, fits into the mid-range segment and is the Dual SIM version of the HTC Desire 826, which was launched back in April.

HTC seems to have gotten its segments all wrong. The smartphone maker’s all new Desire 826 Dual SIM sports hardware that is pretty good match for Xiaomi’s Mi 4i smartphone, but surprisingly costs twice as much.

This is all thanks to the pricing of the handset that falls more in line with mid-rangers and those high-end ones like the OnePlus One, Mi 4 that are now being sold at ridiculously low prices but offer much better performance.

Still then, both OnePlus One and Xiaomi Mi 4 are single SIM smartphones. As for the specs of the HTC Desire 826 Dual SIM:

  • We get a 5.5 inch Full HD display
  • Inside, we have a 64-bit, Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset with an octa-core setup
  • There is 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage with an expandable memory card slot
  • As for the camera we have a 13 MP unit on the back and a 4 MP UltraPixel unit on the front
  • There are the usual connectivity options which include 4G LTE bands, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi
  • All of the above is powered by a 2600 mAh battery and the handset runs Android 5.0 Lollipop

Of course the important bit is the pricing. The HTC Desire 826 Dual SIM is priced at Rs 26,990 that is way above the what you can buy the OnePlus One for with a high-end Snapdragon 801. At 26,990 all you get are budget internals with HTC’s BoomSound tech with a 5.5 inch display.

The handset will be available in Blue Lagoon and Birch White and should go on sale in by the end of June; but we seriously don't recommend buying it until the prices drop.
