After Indian R&D Centre, Xiaomi To Open Experience Stores

Their only purpose will be to promote brand awareness.

Xiaomi has told Reuters that it now has plans to set up at least a 100 experience stores all over India. The Experience Stores will simply showcase the Chinese smartphone maker’s products and will not be selling anything.

Indeed Xiaomi seems to be putting all its profits in the right places. The company is doing really well in terms of selling its quality smartphones and has gathered quite a fan following by offering quality hardware at super-low prices.

It was not too long ago, that Xiaomi announced that it also had plans of setting up a research and design facility in Bangalore. Post that, it has also made plans to set up a manufacturing unit in India, which could not come at a better time, since the PM is looking to build and promote a ‘Made in India’ label.

The smartphones are selling like hot cakes (though in limited numbers) but India indeed cannot get enough of Xiaomi. Just yesterday, Xiaomi announced that it will be bringing its Nvidia Tegra K1-powered Mi Pad tablet to India as well to take on the tablet market.

Micromax will be worried as it currently sits at the number one spot (once ruled by Samsung) when it comes to Android smartphone sales in the budget and mid range. Even though Micromax is a local brand, we are pretty sure that Xiaomi is gunning for the number one spot right now and is least bothered about Samsung.

All Xiaomi needs is a push to make the brand more visible and known, and its experience stores will do just that.
