Samsung May Include Its 14 Nm Exynos 7 SoC In The GALAXY S6

Yes, the 20 nm process is now old for Samsung.

Samsung Electronics has announced that its all-new Exynos 7 chipset is now hitting production. The new chip is faster, can be more productive and will deliver better power savings as well, thanks to an industry-first 14 nm manufacturing process.

The Exynos also happens to be the first chip to be mass produced, based on the 14 nm, 3D, FinFET process.

This delivers a chipset that is 20 percent faster, steps up productivity by 30 percent and more importantly lowers power consumption by 35 percent, compared to other 20 nm chipsets.

What is of course more important, is that we may actually see the chipset make an appearance in the upcoming GALAXY S6 smartphone. While Qualcomm with its Snapdragon 810 is stuck with 20 nm process Samsung will indeed be able to deliver some really astounding figures with the custom-made chipset.

Samsung seems to be going all out with the GALAXY S Edge this time around, so it might as well deliver when it comes to power savings and internal hardware as well with the new chipset.
