Truecaller Crosses The 100 Mn User Mark, Aided By Its Growth In India

Out of the 100 million users, 45 million are from India with 6 lakh new users signing up for the service every week from the country

 

Call ID and blocking service Truecaller has announced that it has crossed the 100 million registered users milestone, aided by its growth in India. The company also used to occasion to unveil its updated Android app, with many new intuitive features and an easier to use interface.

Truecaller, which raised $60 million in funding just this October, is the leading app to help users identify unknown numbers and block unwanted spam and marketing calls. The company also unveiled a dedicated dialer app that suggests contacts based on call history, time of day and place.

India accounted for more than 45 million of the service's users, with 6 lakh new users signing up for the service every week from the country. Analysts say that the unusually high number of spam calls in India is what is driving smartphone users in the country to install apps like Truecaller.

The company has completely redesigned its Android app in order to make it easier to discover unknown numbers, while also improving the ease of navigating the app. The core focus of the update however has been improving Truecaller's predictive features that make contact suggestions a lot smarter.

"This is the first step we are taking to make Truecaller more intelligent and personal. We've made these advancement to save time for our users and make their lives less complicated when they want to get in touch with someone," said Alan Mamedi, co-founder of Truecaller.
