Nimbuzz Launches Its Holaa Dialer App For Android

The app offers users features similar to Truecaller, and even allows adding of Facebook and Google IDs into their phonebook contacts

Indian mobile messaging and calling service, Nimbuzz, has launched launched a dialer app for Android devices called Holaa. The company claims the app was built completely in India, and aims to replace the dumb dailer app that comes pre-installed on all smartphones.

Holaa will offer users useful features such as spam blocking, which will function similarly to TrueCaller. The service allows users to mark numbers as spam callers, putting them on a blacklist which should help others avoid calls from the same number.

Apart from spam blocking, the app also has a section dedicated to viewing missed calls, and merges both Google and Facebook IDs to a users phonebook contacts. Holaa even displays a picture of an incoming caller along with the location from which the call is originating.

Nimbuzz has said that the core app will always remain free, and that Holaa was an ongoing project which will become even more feature rich over time. The company however added that some features could be made available only via in-app-purchases in the future.

The app has been designed keeping in mind customers in emerging markets, which is why the company claims it hasn't built an iOS version of Holaa. Nimbuzz also added that it was in talks with OEMs to pre-install the app on smartphones sold in its home market of India.
